Annual Cookie Pack

Even with the pandemic, the Lutheran Women of Tidewater have continued the Annual Cookie Pack that began over 25 years ago. The Virginia Beach Correctional Center would not take home-baked items at this time so we converted our efforts. As of last year, Thrivent Financial was contacted and the following congregations were able to receive $250 grants for the project: Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, St. John, St. Timothy, and Our Saviour. A private donation of $200 came from Christ Lutheran also. With that money, a number of snack items were bought for the 1300 prisoners as well as a number of stamps that helped them send holiday greetings to their families. Thanks go to Stephanie Chivers and Ellen Greene for coordinating the project at St. John.
